Understanding Yourself and Others

Understanding Yourself and Others

Some of the major problems experienced in both working and personal relationships are often due to the fact that people perceive the world differently.  There are individual differences between the styles of communication used and ways of making decisions.  These differences are often difficult to understand.

This program helps participants to identify their own preferences and strengths and weaknesses, as well as to increase understanding of others.  It uses the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) in order to identify individual differences.

The content can include:

  • Background to the MBTI
  • Completion of the MBTI
  • Exploration of the key differences between people according to MBTI
  • Understanding the implications of those differences in ways of communicating and working with others
  • Planning personal actions for improving relationships with others

Learning Outcomes:  As a result of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Identify their own personality type according to the MBTI;
  • Identify the impact of these preferences;
  • Explore the implications for working others;
  • Plan how to use this information to fully utilise their own strengths; and
  • Plan how to use the information as a way of improving relationships with others.
